Custom Orthotics/Braces

People suffering from foot, ankle, knee, hip or low back pain may benefit from custom orthotics which are made specifically to fit you.  They help to reduce pain by restoring proper foot alignment and enhance the stability needed to reduce the strain on the muscles and joints.

Children can benefit from orthotics during developmental years if they experience gait abnormalities such as toeing in or other structural deformities.

Custom orthotics may be used in adults to control abnormal pronation which may lead to bunions, hammertoes, tendonitis, plantar fasciitis and heel pain.

The elderly and diabetic population may benefit from custom orthotics to relieve pain due to arthritic joints and prevent potentially limb threatening ulcerations and wounds.

We also provide prefabricated insoles for those who don’t have significant deformity but may benefit from some type of support.

Our office also employs ankle braces, both over the counter and custom, to help with injuries and/or deformities that require a stronger lever arm to support the ankle and foot.  They are also beneficial in people with frequently sprained ankles.

A brace is also used in patients with an unsteady gait, such as those who have had a stroke and subsequent drop foot deformity.  This results in the inability to effectively lift the foot during gait due to muscle weakness, therefore stumbling occurs.  Weakness in the ankles is also noted in patients with neuropathy where a brace would be appropriate.
